I am a Dentist and these are great!
Although slightly difficult to figure out how to insert due to the awkward shape of the auditory canal (you want to push these in backwards and upwards) and the fact that over time they tend to slide out slowly requiring regular reinsertion with your fingers (a pain as I have to wash my hands each time I do this for cross infection control), they work well. They reduce the overall volume of everything around you. I can still hear the shrill of the drill but its somewhat softened. Talking to others is absolutely possible but requires a but more focus. Also your own voice is louder which takes some time to adjust your speech volume to prevent yelling at others. Overall, these are a great, inexpensive option to protect your hearing. However I would love to compare these to custom made ones (which are much more expensive) to see if there is a big difference. Overall, if you're a dentist, hygienist, therapist or dental assistant, get these and use them religiously. Hearing is very important!
